WHAT DO YOU OFFER ME – WHY SHOULD I USE YOU?
Secrets of Service [S.o.S] offers you an opportunity to take a step further than your competitors and get professional training for your staff in order to enable them to work more in unison towards your company’s goals which will provide you with less stress, more efficient workers, bigger sales, higher profits margins and a more moldable workforce.
AS AN EXPERIENCED, WELL FUNCTIONING MANAGER WHO TAKES CARE OF HIS/HER TRAINING NEEDS, WHAT ELSE DO YOU OFFER ME?
Secrets of Service’s target market primarily are establishments who needs assistance in their training. If you are happy with your staff’s performance, then the only way S.o.S will be able to help you are in two ways:
First, S.o.S can help you with training your current employees so you can put your attention in new ventures or ideas knowing that staff will have the same high standards. Second, S.o.S can train your new employees at new ventures if you would like to ensure your current establishment is running at the same high standards and not suffering whilst new places are opening.
WHERE DO THE COURSES HAPPEN?
There are two options:
First and recommended is for courses to be on the premises of the restaurant. This is cost effective plus would provide S.o.S to give more practical on-site advice and training.
Second is rental of a convenient, cost effective, pre-determined room or premises that won’t influence the course price too much.
WILL THE COURSES NOT DISRUPT THE DAILY FUNCTIONING OF THE EXISTING RESTAURANT/ ESTABLISHMENT?
Training normally involves having to operate with fewer people on duty and S.o.S understands this and would like to assist as much as possible for this process to be as smooth as possible. With correct planning the effects would be minimal. S.o.S tries to be as flexible as possible and will try to accommodate day-time or night-time training if and when possible. Please feel free to enquire and open a dialogue regarding your business’ optimum times for training.
WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I/ MY STAFF HAVE ON COMPLETION OF A COURSE?
On successful completion of a course, individuals will get an official Secrets of Service certificate which recognises that they have done the course successfully.
Certain accredited courses can be very academic and lose the idea of enabling staff to perform better in their tasks. S.o.S has specifically designed its courses from a manager’s view point to increase employees’ skill-sets and understanding of their industry to practically perform at a higher level.
ARE THE COURSES OFFICIALLY RECOGNISED BY ANY GOVERNING/ OFFICIAL BODY?
Secrets of service is of the opinion that the courses are specially designed to improve employees on a practical level. Accreditation might hinder the practical learning in favour of academic learning.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY STAFF AFTER COMPLETION OF THE COURSE?
In short, after each course an individual would understand his or her role in more depth which will enable them to work more effectively. There will also be skills learnt on each course to empower individuals to perform better. This will allow individuals to work better independently and as part of a team.
There are various courses such as the Waiter Course or the Management Course and each have various difficulty levels which will determine with how much knowledge and skills somebody will walk away with on completion.

DOES A WAITER NEED YOUR TRAINING TO BE EFFECTIVE AND SUCCESSFUL?
A waiter with zero to little experience and/ or training needs to be shown by a new employer what to do. This can be a timely and hands-on experience to achieve the desired result. S.o.S helps to achieve the foundation for you in less than a week – informed, trained and educated staff with the proper foundation to function within your company’s structure.
WHAT SERVICES DOES S.o.S OFFER OTHER THAN TRAINING COURSES?
S.o.S. offers consultancy services for establishments or individuals who are in the process of setting up a business or who would possibly like to change their status quo of their current operation. S.o.S can offer detailed and in-depth observations and provide both feedback and references of and/or for participants.
WHY SHOULD I SPEND MONEY ON TRAINING STAFF?
Restaurants are becoming more and more competitive – especially in the Cape Winelands and more specifically the Stellenbosch area. The way to set your business above others is through effective training of your staff. The talent pool that applies for waitering positions these days are considerably different from those in the past. The current economic conditions generally provide new, eager and career-driven employees with little to no experience or background in hospitality.
Training staff has numerous advantages. At minimum is can be a nice reward for people who have done well – they get the recognition and achieve more stimulus by going on the training and in return work better. At best it gives people a new and refreshed outlook and perspective on the job they do daily which enable them to find a new and rigorous energy that satisfy customers more. The training should re-enforce what people know but are not sure of, it should teach people with no experience the basics and the minim required level to operate on.
Training staff and overseeing them to attain these standards can take a lot of energy and man-hours. With this training we are hoping to assist you in either reaching this level, or reaching this level quicker than initially thought so your attention, time and resources can go towards other problem or growth areas identified to better the business.
